How we handle your data.

A plain description of what Jobwaker stores, how it’s protected, what is sent elsewhere, and how you stay in control. Questions? Write to [email protected].

What is protected, and how

  • CV files are encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before they are stored, and the text extracted from your CV is encrypted in the database.
  • Downloads use short-lived signed links that only work with your own session.
  • Passwords are hashed with scrypt; we never store them in readable form. Session tokens are stored as hashes too.
  • If you connect your own AI model, its API key is encrypted and never shown again or sent to your browser.

What leaves Jobwaker

  • Job searches send only the role keywords and the cities you chose, never your name or your CV.
  • When AI processing is on, the relevant parts of your profile and the job posting are sent to the AI model that writes your documents: the server's model, or your own if you connected one.
  • When AI processing is off, documents are written by the built-in engine and nothing about you is sent to an AI service.
  • Applications are never submitted by Jobwaker. You apply yourself on the employer's site.
  • City suggestions come from our own copy of a city list (World Cities by simplemaps.com, CC BY 4.0), so what you type in a city field stays on our server.
  • If you use the browser extension, it works only on the page where you click it. It reads your contact details and approved documents from Jobwaker and types them into that page's form. For the questions left empty, it sends their wording and choices (never what you typed) to Jobwaker, which drafts answers from your profile with the AI model. In Chrome it stores nothing in your browser. Safari doesn't share your Jobwaker sign-in with extensions, so there the extension keeps one connection key, created when you connect it; changing your password or deleting your account cancels it. It never submits the form.

Where it is processed

  • Jobwaker runs on a server in Germany. Your account, your profile and your encrypted files are stored there, with database backups kept for 14 days.
  • Traffic to the site and the emails we send go through a US-based network and email provider.
  • When AI processing is on, the server's AI model runs at that same US-based provider. It doesn't use your content to train models or improve its services.
  • Because that provider is based in the US, some of your data can be processed outside Switzerland and the EU.

What you control

  • Export everything we hold about you as a file, at any time, from Settings.
  • Delete your account: your files are deleted first, then every record linked to you.
  • Switch AI processing off, or choose not to keep your original CV file once its contents are imported.
  • See recent sensitive actions on your account (sign-ins, exports, downloads, approvals) in the security log in Settings.
